8-Foot Board-On-Board Japanese Cedar Fence Installation in Frisco, TX

At Frisco Fence, we recently completed a beautiful 8-foot board-on-board privacy fence replacement in Frisco, Texas, giving the homeowner stronger security, long-lasting durability, and a clean finished look.

This project included 143 linear feet of pre-stained Japanese Cedar fencing, built with structural upgrades designed to help the fence perform well for many years in the North Texas climate.

Project Overview

Location: Frisco, TX
Fence Style: Board-On-Board Privacy Fence
Height: 8 Feet
Total Length: 143 Linear Feet
Material: Pre-Stained Japanese Cedar
Color: Medium Brown
Gates: 2 Walk Gates

This new fence provides excellent privacy, strength, and curb appeal while maintaining a classic North Texas fence design that works well with most neighborhoods and HOA requirements.

Why Homeowners Choose Board-On-Board Fences

One of the most common fences we build across Frisco, McKinney, Prosper, Celina, and surrounding North DFW communities is the board-on-board style fence.

Board-on-board fencing uses overlapping pickets that eliminate gaps between boards.

Benefits include:

  • Maximum privacy from both sides
  • Better protection from wind
  • Reduced visibility through the fence over time
  • Stronger structure than standard side-by-side fencing
  • A clean finished appearance from both sides

As wood naturally expands and contracts with weather changes, the overlapping design ensures that gaps do not develop over time, which helps maintain privacy year-round.

Premium Materials Used on This Fence

For this project, the homeowner selected pre-stained Japanese Cedar, which is known for its durability, appearance, and resistance to insects and decay.

Fence construction included:

  • 1x6 Japanese Cedar pickets
  • 2x4 Japanese Cedar horizontal rails
  • 2x6 pressure-treated pine kickboard
  • 1x4 Japanese Cedar top trim
  • 2x6 Japanese Cedar top cap
  • Pre-stained Medium Brown finish

The kickboard at the bottom of the fence helps protect the cedar pickets from ground moisture and extends the life of the fence.

The top cap and trim provide a finished architectural look while also helping protect the top edge of the fence from weather exposure.

Steel Posts for Long-Term Strength

One of the most important parts of a fence is what you don’t see once the fence is finished — the posts.

For this installation we used:

2 3/8" galvanized steel posts (.095 gauge)
Set in concrete using
Maximizer concrete mix

Steel posts help prevent common problems such as:

  • Leaning fences
  • Rotting wood posts
  • Structural shifting over time
  • Gate sagging

Using steel posts allows the fence to stay straighter and stronger for years longer than traditional wood post installations.

Custom Gate Installation

This project included two walk gates equipped with durable hardware, including:

  • Black finished hinges
  • Two-way locking latches
  • Secure gate framing
  • Heavy-duty installation hardware

Proper gate construction is critical because gates are often the most used and most stressed part of a fence system.

Built Right and Backed by a 10-Year Warranty

Every premium fence installation by Frisco Fence includes our 10-Year Workmanship Warranty, which covers items such as:

  • Warped or cracked lumber
  • Leaning posts
  • Hardware issues
  • Sagging gates
