Custom 8-Foot Board-on-Board Fence with Retaining Wall in Frisco

At Frisco Fence, every project is about more than just building a fence — it’s about solving problems, improving curb appeal, and building something that lasts.

This recent project on Willowbrook Lane is a perfect example of how the right design and materials can completely transform a property.

🔨 Project Overview

For this job, we completed a full fence replacement along with a structural upgrade to handle elevation and long-term stability.

Key Project Details:

  • 107 linear feet of fencing
  • 8-foot tall privacy fence
  • Pre-stained Japanese Cedar (medium brown)
  • Board-on-board design for maximum privacy
  • Triple top cap (2x6 cap with trim detail)
  • Two custom hinge gates with premium hardware

This wasn’t just a standard fence — this was a high-end privacy system built to perform and look great for years.

🧱 Built for Strength (Not Just Looks)

One of the biggest differences in this project is what you don’t see.

We installed:

  • 2 3/8" steel posts (.095 gauge) set in concrete
  • Simpson brackets and structural fastening system
  • Pressure-treated kickboard for ground protection

This means:
✔ Less leaning over time
✔ Better resistance to Texas soil movement
✔ Longer lifespan compared to traditional wood-post fences

🏗️ Retaining Wall Integration

This property had elevation challenges that couldn’t be ignored.

We built:

  • 17” tall retaining wall (approx. 91 LF)
  • Stacked 2x6 pressure-treated boards
  • Additional steel post reinforcement on tighter spacing

This is critical because:
👉 Without proper support, fences in these conditions will
shift, lean, or fail prematurely

Instead of putting a bandaid on it, we built it the right way from the ground up.

🚪 Custom Gates & Functionality

The project also included:

  • Two hinge gates
  • Black hardware finish
  • 3-hinge system for durability
  • 2-way locking latch for security

These aren’t your typical builder-grade gates — they’re designed for daily use without sagging or failure.

🌱 Final Transformation

To finish things off, we:

  • Improved the surrounding ground conditions
  • Cleaned and brightened the concrete
  • Brought the grass back to life for a clean, finished look

The result is a fence that doesn’t just function well — it completely upgrades the entire property.

💡 Why This Project Matters

A lot of fence quotes out there look similar on paper… but they are NOT built the same.

This project highlights the difference:

  • Proper measurements and full scope included
  • Structural support (not shortcuts)
  • Premium materials and finish
  • Built to last — not just to pass inspection
