- Premium Lumber Selection:Constructed using beautiful, un-stained Western Red Cedar (WRC) for the pickets ($1\times6\times8$), horizontal rails ($2\times4$), and top trim ($1\times4$). Western Red Cedar is highly celebrated for its natural resistance to rot, decay, and warping.
- Durable Foundation:To ensure structural integrity from the ground up, we installed a $2\times6$pressure-treated pine bottom kickboard, protecting the cedar pickets from direct ground moisture.
- Smart Engineering:The project efficiently re-used the property's existing structural steel posts, secured with heavy-duty Simpson post brackets, steel lags, and flat post caps. Pickets were fastened securely using $1\ \frac{3}{4}\text{-inch}$galvanized nails to prevent unsightly rust streaking.
- Custom Access:Two custom arched hinge gates featuring a sleek black finish, 3-hinge alignment, a 2-way locking latch, and a heavy-duty handle.
Elevated Details: Top Trim & Arched Finishes
What truly sets this project apart are the custom finish options chosen to give the fence a distinct, estate-like appearance.
Instead of a standard flat top, we installed a substantial $2\times8$Western Red Cedar top cap accented by standard $1\times4$top trim. To complement the architectural lines of the home, the project also featured beautiful arched trim profiles above the custom-built gates. These stylistic additions completely soften the look of an 8-foot-tall privacy wall, turning a standard property barrier into a custom feature piece.
