Pool Equipment Fence Extension in McKinney, TX – Built to Pool Code & Matched Seamlessly

One of the most common requests we get from the pool companies we work with is building a fence extension to enclose pool equipment.

When a new pool goes in, there has to be a designated area for pumps, heaters, and filtration systems. Not only does it need to look clean and intentional — it also has to meet pool code and stay secured behind the main fence line.

This Project: 12-Foot Cedar Fence Extension in McKinney

For this job in McKinney, we built a 12-foot fence extension to create a secure equipment enclosure that blended perfectly with the existing fence. The goal was simple:

✔ Match the previous wood seamlessly
✔ Maintain the original fence style
✔ Ensure everything meets pool safety code
✔ Keep the backyard looking clean and cohesive

We were able to match the existing wood and design easily so that once installed, it looked like it had always been there.

Materials & Style Details

This extension was built using:

  • 4-inch cedar pickets
  • 1x4 cedar trim
  • 2x6 cedar top cap
  • Pre-stained Medium Brown finish

The pre-stain helps protect the wood from the start and keeps the entire fence consistent in color and tone. When you’re adding on to an existing fence, matching stain and materials is key so the extension doesn’t stand out.

Built to Pool Code Requirements

When it comes to pool fencing, safety isn’t optional — it’s required.

On this enclosure:

  • The gate latch is installed above 54 inches, as required for pool code
  • A spring hinge was installed to ensure the gate is self-closing

That spring mechanism is important. Pool code requires gates to self-close and self-latch to prevent unsupervised access. It’s a small detail that makes a big difference in safety.

If you look closely at the gate, you’ll notice the latch sits higher than standard fence gates — that’s intentional and required.

Why Pool Equipment Extensions Are So Common

Pool builders focus on the pool itself. Once the equipment is set, there still needs to be:

  • Security
  • Code compliance
  • Visual consistency
  • Protection of equipment

That’s where we come in. We work alongside pool companies regularly to ensure the final product looks intentional and professionally finished — not like an afterthought.

The End Result

A clean 12-foot cedar extension that:

  • Matches the existing fence
  • Secures the pool equipment
  • Meets pool code requirements
  • Keeps the backyard looking polished

Simple project. Big impact. Built right the first time.

If you're adding a pool or need an equipment enclosure built to code in McKinney or surrounding areas, we’d be happy to help.

Peace of Mind. Built Right. Backed Right.
