What to Expect During Your Board-on-Board Fence Installation

Installing a new board-on-board fence is one of the best ways to improve privacy, security, and curb appeal. Many homeowners know what the finished fence will look like, but aren't always sure what happens between signing the contract and enjoying their new backyard.

Here's what you can expect when working with Frisco Fence.

Step 1: Approve Your Estimate & Submit Your Deposit

Once you approve your proposal, a deposit secures your project on our schedule and allows us to order the materials needed for your specific fence.

Step 2: Utilities & Permits

Before any digging begins, we contact 811 to have underground utility lines marked. If permits are required, we obtain them and verify all local requirements to ensure your project complies with city regulations.

Step 3: Scheduling Your Project

Once utilities have been marked and permits are approved (if required), our office will schedule your installation date. We'll provide clear communication so you know exactly when work will begin and how to prepare your property.

Step 4: Material Delivery

Fence materials are typically delivered shortly before construction begins. Lumber is staged neatly on-site so everything is ready for an efficient installation.

Step 5: Construction Begins

Day 1: Fence Removal & Post Installation

If an existing fence is being replaced, we carefully remove and haul away the old fence. We then dig post holes and install heavy-duty galvanized steel posts in concrete. These posts are the foundation of your fence and are allowed time to cure properly.

Day 2: Framing & Kickboards

Once the posts are secure, we install the horizontal rails and pressure-treated kickboards. The kickboard helps protect the fence from moisture, lawn equipment, and normal ground contact. Depending on project size, some picket installation may begin as well.

Day 3: Pickets, Gates & Finishing Touches

The final day focuses on craftsmanship and detail. We complete the board-on-board picket installation, build and hang gates, install hardware, and add any upgrades such as top caps, trim, corbels, or decorative features.

Thorough Jobsite Cleanup

When construction is complete, we thoroughly clean the work area by removing debris, hauling off scraps, raking disturbed areas, and performing a magnetic sweep for nails and fasteners. We want your property to look as good as your new fence.

Final Walkthrough & Payment

Once the project is complete, we perform a final walkthrough to ensure everything meets our standards and your expectations. After approval, the remaining balance is collected, and you can begin enjoying your new fence.

At Frisco Fence, our goal is to make the entire process as smooth and stress-free as possible. From the first phone call to the final cleanup, we focus on communication, craftsmanship, and customer service every step of the way.
