Security, Privacy, and Durability: 8-Foot Board-On-Board Cedar Fence Installed at Richardson Nursing Home

Security, Privacy, and Durability: 8-Foot Board-On-Board Cedar Fence Installed at Richardson Nursing Home

When it comes to fencing for healthcare facilities and assisted living communities, security and reliability are just as important as appearance. Recently, our team completed a specialized fence installation project for a nursing home in Richardson, Texas, designed to provide privacy, safety, and long-term durability for residents and staff.

This project required careful planning, secure gate access, and structural strength to ensure the fence would perform well for years to come.

Project Overview

For this installation, we built an 8-foot pre-stained Western Red Cedar board-on-board privacy fence designed to provide both security and an attractive finished appearance.

Key features of this project included:

  • 8-foot tall Board-On-Board Western Red Cedar privacy fence
  • Pre-stained cedar for enhanced longevity and reduced maintenance
  • Four steel support rails for added structural strength
  • Pressure-treated kickboard to protect the base of the fence from ground moisture
  • 1x4 trim boards for a clean, finished look
  • Oversized security gates designed for facility access
  • Metal-framed gates to prevent sagging over time
  • Shark hinges installed to eliminate gate sag
  • Keypad entry systems for controlled access
  • Panic bar hardware for emergency exit safety

Built for Safety and Resident Security

Facilities that serve seniors or assisted living residents require additional safety considerations.

The oversized gates installed on this project were designed to accommodate staff access while also integrating panic bar systems, allowing for quick and safe exit during emergencies.

Keypad access control was also installed to ensure that only authorized personnel can enter or exit secured areas, helping protect both residents and staff.

Infrastructure for Future Technology

Beyond the fence installation itself, our team also ran electrical conduit along the fence line to support the facility’s security systems and gate access equipment.

This ensures the property has the infrastructure needed for:

  • Keypad entry systems
  • Gate operator connections
  • Security and monitoring systems

Planning this during installation helps avoid future trenching or costly retrofits.

Why Board-On-Board Fencing Works Well for Facilities

Board-on-board fencing is one of the most popular fence styles across North Texas because it provides true privacy and structural strength.

Unlike standard side-by-side fencing, board-on-board construction overlaps pickets so that:

  • There are no visible gaps, even as wood naturally expands and contracts.
  • The fence maintains consistent privacy from every angle.
  • Wind can move through the structure more effectively, improving durability.

For healthcare facilities, this design helps create a quiet, private outdoor environment for residents while maintaining a secure perimeter.

Built Right From the Ground Up

At Frisco Fence, we focus on building fences that are designed to last. That means using quality materials, strong gate hardware, and thoughtful planning for the long-term performance of every project.

Projects like this Richardson nursing home installation require attention to detail, secure access control, and structural reliability — all while maintaining a clean, professional appearance that fits the property.

If your facility, community, or home needs a secure, durable privacy fence, our team is here to help.
