Custom Fence Extension in Celina – Pre-Stained Western Red Cedar

Custom Fence Extension in Celina – Pre-Stained Western Red Cedar with Gates & Pool-Code Hardware

This past fall, we completed a custom cedar fence extension in Celina, Texas that combined privacy, safety, and long-term durability—all while blending seamlessly with the homeowner’s existing fence.

This project included a 36-linear-foot, 6-foot-tall fence extension, designed to enclose additional space near the pool equipment and add secure access points with two custom gates.

Project Overview

  • Total Length: 36 linear feet
  • Height: 6 feet
  • Includes: 20’ extension past pool equipment
  • Fence Styles:
  • Board-on-Board for the front gate sections
  • Side-by-Side for the 20’ extension area
  • Gates: 2 hinged gates with pool-code gate springs
  • Warranty: 10-year workmanship warranty

Premium Materials: Built for Longevity

This fence was constructed using pre-stained Western Red Cedar in Oxford Brown, a rich medium-brown tone that adds warmth and curb appeal while offering excellent protection from the elements.

Fence construction details include:

  • 🪵 Pickets: 1x6 Western Red Cedar
  • 🪵 Horizontal rails: 2x4 Western Red Cedar
  • 🪵 Top cap: 2x8 Western Red Cedar
  • 🪵 Top trim: Standard 1x4 Western Red Cedar
  • 🪵 Kickboard: 2x6 pressure-treated pine for ground-level protection

The kickboard helps prevent premature rot at the base of the pickets and adds extra durability where moisture exposure is highest.

Galvanized Steel Posts for Strength

Instead of traditional wood posts, this fence extension was built with:

  • 2 3/8” galvanized steel posts (.095 gauge)
  • Posts cemented in ground using Maximizer concrete

Steel posts significantly reduce the risk of leaning, shifting, and post failure over time—especially important for gates and high-use areas.

Gate & Hardware Details

Both gates were built with safety, functionality, and durability in mind:

  • Black-finish hardware
  • 3-hinge configuration per gate
  • 2-way locking latch with handle
  • Pool-code compliant gate springs included

All pickets were secured using 1 ¾” galvanized nails, with additional structural support from:

  • Simpson 2 3/8” post brackets
  • 1 ½” steel lags
  • 2 3/8” flat steel post caps

A Thoughtfully Designed Fence Extension

Because this was a partial extension rather than a full fence replacement, special attention was given to:

  • Matching materials and finish
  • Blending board-on-board and side-by-side styles intentionally
  • Creating smooth transitions so the new fence looks original to the property

The end result is a clean, cohesive cedar fence extension that enhances privacy, improves safety around the pool equipment, and adds long-term value to the home.
